The Author

Writing has always been the foundation of how I build stories. Turning film concepts into novels gives readers a way to enter these worlds and build interest while the resources for production are still ahead. I still intend to make these films. For now, the stories begin on the page.

STORIES BUILT TO BE SEEN

Since I was 9 years old, I have been fascinated by narrative storytelling because they have allowed me to explore characters, mysteries, and worlds beyond the limits of a single frame. Blackwood grew directly from my experience creating The River Styx Motel, carrying its cinematic atmosphere and suspense into a larger supernatural Western. These novels begin on the page, but I still imagine every scene through the lens of a filmmaker.

Some Roads
Don’t Lead Home.

After losing his mother, twelve-year-old Sam Hastings discovers a hidden note from the father who vanished years ago while searching for a legendary treasure. Convinced it may finally lead him to the truth, Sam joins forces with his fearless new friend, Billy “The Kid,” and follows a trail of clues across the American West.

But someone from his father’s past is hunting the same secret, a relentless sheriff is closing in, and every discovery pulls the boys deeper into danger. As the legend begins to feel terrifyingly real, Sam must answer the question that has haunted him for years: Did his father disappear searching for the treasure, or because he found it?

To learn the truth, Sam must finish the journey his father could not and survive whatever is waiting at the end of the line.

Some Ghosts You Bury.
Others You Carry.

In 1883, Sheriff Clayton Blackwood makes one unforgivable choice: he trusts evil to keep its word. His town burns, its people die, and Blackwood survives only to become an eternal servant of Death.

Nearly a century and a half later, Death orders him to take the life of a young girl. Blackwood refuses. Cast into the mortal world and hunted by the master he betrayed, he discovers the child is bound to the same buried bargain that destroyed his town. To save her, Blackwood must confront the truth of what happened that night and decide whether a man beyond forgiveness can still choose redemption.

Death has collected every soul Blackwood was sent to take. This time, he intends to fight for one.
